Cleary (left) and Lee agree to stronger ties between Bradford and INTI. |
In a sprawling campus that spans across 82 acres of grounds, Bradford Room may appear to be just one room among many. The seemingly inconspicuous room, however, symbolizes the strong and growing ties between INTI University College (INTI-UC) and the University of Bradford in the UK, which allows students to receive a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree from INTI-UC and a Master of Engineering (M.Eng) degree from Bradford upon successful completion of their 4-year Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree studies at INTI-UC.
Under the terms of a memorandum of agreement signed by the two parties, graduates will be awarded a Masters degree from Bradford through a four year degree programme at INTI-UC. In the UK, the fourth year of study is equivalent to studies at the Masters level. The programme comes complete with soft skills training and internship opportunity for students to develop marketable skills and working experience.
“The partnership with INTI-UC is strongly committed to sustainability, innovation and research which provide benefits to individuals and society at large,” said Professor Mark Cleary, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bradford at the ceremony.
The University of Bradford has worked with INTI-UC for many years, and INTI-UC is the only institution awarded the “Associate Institution” status by Bradford. The success of the B.Eng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (3+0) offered by INTI-UC in collaboration with Bradford can be seen in the many graduates who have achieved outstanding results in their respective areas of study.
Professor Dr Lee Fah Onn, President of INTI-UC, said that his institution’s relationship with Bradford started in the early 1990’s. “The dedication and hard work of both INTI-UC and Bradford faculty and staff to ensure that the high academic standards set by Bradford are replicated at INTI-UC have led to continuous growth, excellence and uncompromising academic standards,” he added.
The advantage of pursuing an engineering qualification at INTI is that there is a strong drive to succeed. Students are taught by academics and industry practitioners; many of whom dictate the path of the engineering industry in Malaysia or have access to cutting edge technologies and resources.
Strong links with the private sector also mean that there are grants for research and development, and students have the opportunity to work on new and cutting-edge developments while pursuing their respective courses. All these aim at boosting the employment prospects of the INTI graduate, which is one of the key areas of focus by the INTI Education Group.
