Counselling Teachers at the MAPCU-StudyMalaysia Information Day

The MAPCU-StudyMalaysia Information Day was held for counselling teachers in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and Johor (Muar) and Johor (JB) on 5, 7, 9, 19, 21 and 22 July 2010 respectively.

Supported by the Ministry of Education as well as the various state education departments, the objective of the Information Day was to disseminate the latest information on developments in higher education in Malaysia.

The event also helps counselling teachers to understand the roles and responsibilities of various government agencies such as the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN), and Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK).

Representatives from the IPTS Management Sector (Higher Education Department), MQA, PTPTN JPK, and StudyMalaysia were present to give talks to the counselling teachers.

Besides getting up-to-date information on opportunities in higher education, the counselling teachers were also able to interact and have face-to-face discussions with representatives from institutions of higher education.

In each venue, about 120 counsellors and 250 students attended the event.

The students who attended the Information Day were mainly Form 5 & 6 students who were seeking information on higher education courses. Among the participating exhibitors were:
